Stuck on 3331 error

Well guys, I have to say that I did my research, i've done what others suggest to bypass this problem, changing the version info in the version.info in the darkstar root folder, I don't know if I have to change it in some place else, I check files, I did the repair files, I copied the data folder and paste it in FFXI folder, etc, etc, etc, but after changing the version client, I still get the error and it shows the same version, despite that I changed it in the file, besides that what I get in the lobby server window is a number like 30166xx_x, so how do i know what exactly version I need to change in the version info file?

Can any good soul, explain to us the guys that we are not developers how to fix or bypass this? we just want to play when we can, we don't want to join any server because we don't have the time for that?
