A "good" compromise would be to give everyone the Destrier beret like if they bought the game recently, it helps all new players far more than just by adding speed (which it adds aswell) while keeping it legit.
It might only work until level 30, but... after that everyone should be understand the game well enough to avoid most stupid deaths.
