Old Forum Posts

Post by project2501 » Sat Aug 11, 2012 11:29 pm

Is there any future considerations for possibly transferring posts or threads from the old forum to the new one here? I know that time and effort is stretched thin as it is and that transferring anything would not be a priority any time soon.

The reason for me bringing it up is that once the old forum becomes obsolete and is no longer needed, some of the older threads and posts still contain useful information that could help new and old forum members alike.

Anyways I was just curious about it. I can already see alot of effort has gone into porting some of the more important threads over to the new forum here.

Love the new forum btw!.

I think the wiki is a great place to put all the useful information from the old forums. It makes more sense for the info to migrate there than here where it can be difficult to find the info you are looking for. Anyone that wants to register a wiki account can edit it (e-mail address NOT required for registration) and add the info there.

There are no plans to do a mass migration of the old forums over to these.

It is more a matter of effort than anything. Unfortunately the service that was used (FreeForums.org) does not allow anyone to export the database and so everything would have to be done manually -- it just isn't worth it.
